I'm like some kind of crazy person

I feel pretty hardcore. This weekend Dane and I biked to Taylor, TX, and back: a trip of about 35 miles each way. Dane had been on a couple of long rides before, but the furthest I'd ever been at once had been about 20 miles. The scenery was gorgeous. It doesn't take long until you're biking on tiny roads amidst farmland. I wish I had taken pictures on the way, but at least I managed one cameraphone snap.
We saw all sorts of cool stuff. I think I've only seen a wheat field once or twice before in real life, and it was probably from inside of a car. Biking next to a wheat field you can see how it practically shimmers in the sun and that it whispers when the wind is blowing. We also saw lots of cows, plus calves! The calves were so cute, they were still young enough to hop around and play with each other.
The ride out on Saturday was murder, with a terrible headwind the whole ride. It took us SIX HOURS to get to Taylor. There was a town fair going on, and some lovely historical buildings to see, but we were so worn out that we barely had the energy to drag ourselves out to eat. We stayed in the hotel the rest of the evening and went to bed early, fearing that we might have to call friends for a ride back the next day. Luckily the wind was calmer on Sunday, and mostly in our favor. We cut the ride down to three and a half hours. I also managed not to get sunburned, which is practically a miracle.
I feel oddly good today, and not very sore at all. I really didn't think I could do it. Now I actually would like to try another trip in the future.
